Assessing a Website Interface

ASSIGNMENT: 1– Assessing a Website Interface

ANSWER
The interface of the website to be assessed is: www.taawuntrust.org ; it is the official website of Ta’awun Trust; a humanitarian organisation located in 162, Jogabai Main road, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi – 110025, India.
Noticed defects on the interface
1.       Getting to main sub-pages: The interlinks provided to be navigated in order to get to the sub-pages like: Home, About Us, Appeal, Press release, Press Release, Reports and Photo Gallery are very small, though as the centre.
2.       The home page is over-crowded with pictures and information which could either be the same content of some of the sub-pages like Reports and Photo Gallery. Then, such information and pictures do not need to be repeated on the home page to avoid congestion.
3.       The main menus which ought to be well displayed for easy seeing are not done; instead the pictures are small that it does not caption the users’ attention.
4.        The area (length and breadth) of the interface (home page) are not well utilized. This is evident in the display of some unnecessary information at the home page; e.g. Relief and Rehabilitation Committee, and Relief and Rehabilitation Work Report, which invariably should have been restricted to the sub-pages labelled About Us and Report respectively.
5.       The combining colours of the home page (interface) looks dichotomous: red, green black and grey. It does not appeal to sense of beauty and aesthetics.
6.       Lastly, the interface lacks good quality of graphics, and this amount to its unattractive look.
